This is a live series of four one-hour sessions. We’ll view and discuss brief lessons taught to unrehearsed Carden Students enrolled in Grades 1, 2, and 3. See how our Carden Specialists take advantage of our special techniques to bring the joy of learning to their students.
Grade One students from the Carden School of Tucscon enjoy a lesson from Green Book entitled, “Kate’s Doll.” The teacher’s source material is from Green Book: Questions for Developing Comprehension and Building a Speaking Vocabulary, Pages 1-5, 18-19, 97-99, and 104. Our discussion will focus on the techniques used to help students solve words by applying their understanding of the Carden charts, vocabulary building, ways to ensure comprehension.
Grade Two students will participate in a spelling lesson by writing down the words as they are dictated by means of a spelling story. We’ll pay close attention to the teacher’s preparation for the lesson and the techniques he uses to build his students’ power of recall. The source material for this lesson can be found in Manual Spelling Book Grade Two, Lesson 1, Page 14.
In our first demonstrations from Grade Three, our students will first participate in a lively reading lesson from Classbook 3, Lesson 40.
Our final session will include a math lesson for Grade Three. The source material is found in Lesson 56 of the Teacher’s Edition for The Language of Numbers Unit 3, Page 66. Students will experience the commutative property.
